I’m curious, why the big hype over the iphone? Aside from a flashy interface, what makes it such a must have?
According to Apple:
iPhone is a revolutionary new mobile phone that allows you to make a call by simply tapping a name or number in your address book, a favorites list, or a call log. It also automatically syncs all your contacts from a PC, Mac, or Internet service. And it lets you select and listen to voicemail messages in whatever order you want — just like email.
Hmm… I’ve been doing that for years -
So far the only real advantage I’m seeing is the new voicemail feature.
All in all it’s a cool phone, but wait in line for 5 hours just to be the first to have one? No thanks. Really though, who gives a shit how I feel about it? Let’s hear why you want an iphone so badly!
Maybe the biggest reason to wait is thanks to Cingular Wireless. It appears that Cingular has exclusive rights to sell the iphone. Too bad for you folks, I wish you the best!
As you know, Cingular is now AT&T Wireless… What comes with every service from AT&T? A side order of terrible customer service.
Over the years AT&T has gone through many changes, but they seem to consistently fail at customer service - Are they just too large to care? Is it smart for Apple to sit so close to AT&T with the risk of this image bleeding over to their customers?
If they’re too large to care, then what made huge companies such as Verizon spring into action to clean up their act? They’ve done a fantastic job of improving their image, and backing it up with actions.
I was reading this article the other day and what stood out the most was this statement:
Verizon’s goal is to meet the customer-desired delivery date 90% of the time, he said, and in the process “change the way we look at it, to look at the service fulfillment the way the customer looks at it. We will try to meet their demands. Obviously, we won’t do that every time but we can change the mind set of customer service.”
“Customer-desired delivery date” It’ll be interesting to watch how they use these new metrics to further improve service. In the meantime, bravo Verizon for moving in the right direction.
Not that I have many readers, but for those of you that bother I’d love to hear your thoughts. If you’re an iphone owner, how has your experience been?
